The Battle of Brandywine on September 11, 1777, was the biggest single-day engagement of the entire Revolutionary War. George Washington's headquarters was in Chadds Ford. Lafayette was wounded in the fighting. And the ground where all of it happened is still there, right here in Delaware County.
