DELAWARE COUNTY, PA - This fall, Delaware County goes outside. Delco Loves Nature Week, co-organized by Delco Volunteers, brings together residents, conservation groups, and community partners for a week of hands-on environmental stewardship across the county - from trail maintenance and park cleanups to habitat restoration and outdoor education.

Running November 6-15, 2026, the week features volunteer opportunities at six participating sites, including the Scott Arboretum at Swarthmore College, Haverford College Arboretum, Natural Lands, Aldan Tree Tenders, Glen Providence Park Friends, and the Delaware County Office of Sustainability.

"Delco Loves Nature Week is exactly what Delco Volunteers was built for," said Leah Cevoli, Program Coordinator of Delco Volunteers. "We have incredible green spaces, conservation groups, and parks across all 49 of our municipalities, and we have residents who want to show up for them. This week gives everyone a chance to do that together in a variety of ways!"

As a volunteer with Scott Arboretum, you will keep one of Delco's most beloved green spaces thriving with hands-on garden maintenance and habitat cleanups along the Crum Creek.

Volunteers at the Haverford College Arboretum will help care for 216 acres of living landscape and perform a pine needle mulching right here in Delco.

Volunteers with Natural Lands will be performing a tree & shrub planting at the Hildacy preserve, thereby maintaining our county so that Delco's wildest corners stay wild for the people and wildlife who call them home.

The Aldan Tree Tenders working with volunteers will be on the ground hosting a meaningful day of tree and shrub planting at Aldan's Elementary school - caring for our neighbors.

The Delaware County Office of Sustainability brings it all together and will be holding a yard sign recycling day - bringing community and sustainability together. These are the initiatives that keep Delco green from the local level to the policy level.

Glen Providence Park Friends will host volunteers in Media for hands-on park care: removing invasive plants, repairing tree cages, and planting new trees and shrubs.

"Delaware County is home to some of the most treasured open space in the greater Philadelphia region. Delco Loves Nature Week is a chance for residents to step outside, explore those landscapes, and experience firsthand why protecting them matters. Natural Lands is proud to be part of a county that recognizes the connection between healthy land and thriving communities, said Oliver Bass, President, Natural Lands / America250PADelco Commission member.

"Delaware County trails are some of of our best assets and too many residents still haven't discovered what's right in their backyard. Delco Loves Nature Week is an invitation to change that. Whether you walk the trail, paddle the river, or simply find a bench by the water, this week is about turning toward nature and letting Delco's natural beauty speak for itself, said Elaine Paul Schaefer, Executive Director, Schuylkill River Greenways / America250PADelco Commission member / Delaware County Council member.

Delco Loves Nature Week runs November 6–15, 2026. No experience is needed. Most opportunities require just a few hours of commitment.
