Revolutionary Reads will culminate with a visit from the author on Sunday, November 6 at 1:00 pm hosted by Widener University. This event is free and open to the public. Dr. Zabin will discuss her 2020 book which invites a reconsideration of one of the iconic events leading to revolution. History Lovers! This book club is for you! For September and October, the group will meet Monday, October 3 and Monday, October 24 at 7 pm. For September’s meeting the group will read The Boston Massacre: A Family History by Serena R. Zabin. For October’s meeting we will read from a list of books about the Revolutionary period. Join us for the recognition of the 245th anniversary of the Battle of Brandywine. This event on Hallowed ground, is on the actual site of the main battle combat area. See one of the largest events of its kind. See battle re-enactments, historical crafts, displays, authors, artists & local groups. Free, donations welcome.
Reenact the Battle of Brandywine! Two skirmishes and firing demo each day. Reenactors, camp followers, demonstrators and other historians will be on site for all to engage with. Live music, food, and beverages will be available. $5 kids/$10 adults. Tickets at gate only
America250PA invites you to #JoinUs on National Pennsylvania Day, as we staff food banks across the Commonwealth! This July 20th, we are counting on you to #JoinUs at one of the 12 participating food banks near you. If you are able to volunteer a few hours of your time this Pennsylvania Day, please find your nearest food bank and complete our volunteer form on the 'More Info' button. Representatives from America250PADelco will be at Philabundance on July 20. Shifts are 8:45-12 and 12:45-4.
The celebration, hosted by Delaware County Council, the Delaware County Veterans Memorial Association, and Taylor Made Vets will feature live music, artistic performances from local schools, vendors, food, and more.
Fun for the whole family! Demonstrations, crafts, food, music, beer, etc. Craft vendors and non-profits are invited to register. The theme this year is railways, so help celebrate what helped develop Haverford Twp and all of Delco! Suggested donation $2.
Parade (including bike parade) starts staging at 10:30 at Rockdale Art Center (starts 11:15). Ends at Monument at New/Mount Roads where there will be music, food, gifts, raffles, etc. from 10 am onwards.
