Description

Interested partners/collaborators who want to organize programs, events or activities in the Brandywine Battlefield planning area to promote history, boost civic engagement or make 2026 a special commemoration are invited to participate in an interactive workshop to inform the ‘Delco Semiquincentennial Celebration Plan’.

Organized by the Battlefield Task Force (BBTF), Heritage Interpretive Network Partners, Chester County 250 and Delaware County 250, this 2nd working meeting will discuss possible programs, projects, and events celebrating America’s 250th in 2026 and the 250th anniversary of the "Battle of Brandywine" in September 2027.

The meeting will cover:

  • CC250 and A250PADelco representatives will talk about their organizations, and each county’s approach to celebrating the 250th.
  • BBTF representatives will overview: Battlefield planning; the Heritage Interpretive Network developed via BBTF planning and now expanded to Philadelphia Campaign and other heritage topical themes; and take-aways from the Aug 2023 joint BBTF/250s working meeting.
  • Break out groups for each Heritage Center cluster to discuss possible 250th activities and collaborations.

The Heritage Interpretive Network is a long-term, ongoing legacy project that builds cohesive thematic connections between Heritage Sites, visitors, and the community in the 15 municipalities in Chester and Delaware Counties. The Heritage Interpretive Network is a long-term, ongoing legacy project that builds connections between Heritage Sites, visitors, and the community along the Chesco/Delco border. Storytelling will be coordinated between existing national and regional attractions and local communities and sites through the thematic framework outlined above. Current Delco History Hub participating communities are Chadds Ford, Concord, Thornbury. Entities outside of these communities with related programming are invited to participate. If you would like to participate, you are welcome to VIEW THE PLAN and contact us.

Together, we'll decide how Delco will celebrate 250th anniversary of America’s independence. This meeting will share what plans coming from our national and state-level partners, the local programs we are dreaming up so far, and ask you:

  • Where do you see yourself in the America 250 initiative? What might be missing or what you might need?
  • Whom could you potentially collaborate with?
  • How prepared are you for 2026 to be extra special?
