Delaware County recently celebrated the completion of Phase 1 restoration work at the historic John Morton Monument, a Revolutionary-era site honoring one of Pennsylvania’s most important Founding Fathers. The monument pays tribute to John Morton, signer of the Declaration of Independence, as well as 11 Revolutionary War veterans and over 700 individuals interred at the site. The restoration effort, supported by the Pennsylvania State Society Daughters of the American Revolution (PSSDAR), marks a major milestone in preserving this landmark ahead of the nation’s 250th anniversary in 2026. The event gathered community members, historians, and supporters to honor the legacy of those who helped shape the birth of the United States. As Delaware County prepares to commemorate America’s founding, efforts like these ensure that future generations can connect with the people and places that made history right here in Delco.
