Delco Volunteers is a community-wide call to service designed to inspire "We the People of Delco" to engage with local history, improve civic spaces, and be part of solutions to ensure we are DelcoStrong for 250 more years!
Delco Volunteers is fun and FREE. We're asking 1) local organizations to register their volunteer opportunity(ies) on our online platform, and 2) Delco residents to sign up to volunteer for a project, program, or community event.
We sat down with Leah Cevoli, Volunteer Coordinator for the Delco Volunteers program at America250PADelco to ask her more about the program.
How can local organizations get involved?
Leah: The first step is to become a registered Community Program Partner, or CPPs as we call them. Registration is free and all Delaware County non-profits, businesses groups, schools and municipalities are eligible. Please fill out our CPP registration form and you’ll soon have access to our Delco Volunteers portal where you can submit your 2026 volunteer needs for events, opportunities and service projects. Once approved, your events and projects will be posted to Delco Volunteers as well as spotlighted on our social media pages, newsletters and various press opportunities as excitement builds for America’s 250th!
How can Delco residents participate?
Leah: There are so many ways for Delconians to participate! Our goal is to activate 2500 Delco Volunteers as we celebrate America’s 250th year right here in Delaware County, PA! It’s easy to get involved, just go to the Delco Volunteers site and search for a volunteer opportunity that interests you! Our platform also allows you to keep track of your volunteer hours and provides a certificate of completion for service completed. There’s everything from festival booth help and parade event prep to Veterans recognition events and park clean-ups. We have something for everyone and we'll continue to add more volunteer opportunities every month as we get closer to America's 250th birthday on July 4th.
What kinds of volunteer opportunities are currently available?
Leah: We’re just getting started but some of my favorite options on the Delco Volunteers site right now include an on-going opportunity with Colonial Pennsylvania Farmstead where you’d be feeding the animals and helping with various farm chores, there’s also a call for volunteers to help clean up Green Lawn Cemetery and for those who prefer to volunteer indoors, I’m looking for a few volunteers to join me at the Delco Sustainability Conference next month at Swarthmore College.
I want to get involved, but I'm not sure where to start. Who can I reach out to?
Leah: Me! I'm happy to help. Whether you’re an organization looking to become a Community Program Partner or a Delconian looking to volunteer some time and service in celebration of America’s 250th, I’ll help you get started. Please reach out to me at leah@america250padelco.org.
