Delaware County's history isn't locked in a museum. It's in the soil at Newlin Grist Mill. It's in the waters off Tinicum. It's in the courthouse in Chester, the farms of Chadds Ford, and the streets of Media. This summer and fall, it's coming to you.
The Delco Time-Traveler's Outpost is America250PADelco's mobile visitor experience — a 10×20 pop-up that drops into 20+ festivals across the county, turning ordinary afternoons into something worth remembering. A professional historical presenter perform live, crowds gather, quills hit parchment, and for a moment, 1776 feels close enough to touch.
This is heritage tourism without the "shh."
Town Crier & Historical Presenter "Masters of the Press" — kick things off with 10-minute "Breaking News" sets from the Revolutionary Era. Think less classroom, more theater. One draws the crowd; the other takes you in.
Sign the Delco Declaration The centerpiece of every stop. Pick up a quill, dip it in ink, and sign your own Declaration of Independence — a keepsake to take home. Your signature also joins The Great Scroll, a community-wide document signed by thousands of Delco residents across the 2026 season.
The Heritage Map & Tourism Portal A wall-sized guide to Delaware County's most significant historic sites, self-guided tours (available through the Stqry app), and heritage destinations from the Brandywine Valley to our waterfront. QR codes make it easy to start planning your next Delco adventure on the spot.
Join Delco Volunteers Civic duty is a Delco tradition — and 1776 proved it. At the Outpost, you can sign up for Delco Volunteers, our community service network connecting residents to meaningful local volunteer opportunities. From the Revolutionary Era to right now, service is what makes this county run.
Free Giveaways & Keepsakes Patriot's Passport booklets. "Delco Founded in 1789" stickers. Postcards. Temporary tattoos. Flags. Every visit sends you home with something.
America is turning 250 in 2026 — and Delaware County has more to say about that than most places realize.
"Where Pennsylvania Began" isn't just a tagline. The Brandywine Battlefield. The Lazaretto. The 1724 Chester Courthouse. A county that was shaped by revolution, industry, immigration, and the ongoing work of building something worth celebrating. The Delco Time-Traveler's Outpost exists to make that story visible — not just to history buffs, but to the 575,000 people who live here and the millions of visitors passing through in 2026.
We don't just hand out pamphlets. We create moments.
The Outpost is just the beginning. Delaware County is home to 14+ heritage sites, miles of scenic trails, and a growing network of self-guided tours — all accessible through our Heritage Tourism Portal.
