(Updated 7/3) Swarthmore’s Independence Day festivities offer a classic, small-town celebration centered around Swarthmore Town Center, featuring a mix of athletic races, a patriotic parade, community awards and local park water games. The SRA Bike Races, Pet category in the parade, and The Fire Company Demonstration are CANCELLED due to heat.
8:15 am Children's Parade registration in the Borough parking lot and begin at 8:45 on Park Ave.
9:00 am The Lions Club Children's Parade and Community Parade. This hometown parade features themed sections. It progresses sequentially with pets, followed by decorated tricycles, decorated bicycles, and concludes with community floats and baby carriages. Non-profit and community groups also march throughout the procession. Following the parade, there will be a presentation of community awards
9:45 am Program & Awards followed by Borough Group Portrait by Andy Shelter.
10:30 AM procession to Umoja Park (located at Yale and Rutgers Avenues) for the Fire Company Water Fight. The Fire Co. will sell hotdogs and soda/waters at the Park.
11:00 AM Horseshoe Tournament at Little Crum Creek Park
