Daytime Events & Battle Saturday, September 19th, 10am - 5pm
Journey back to the 18th century this September 19th as the Chadds Ford Historical Society hosts their annual event. This one-day Colonial festival celebrates and reenacts the September 11, 1777 Battle of Brandywine, the largest single-day battle of the American Revolution.
The event will include battle reenactments twice daily, soldiers performing military drills and battlefield encampments demonstrating life in the 18th century. Get a glimpse of what it was like to be a woman following General Washington’s army as a “Camp Follower”. Observe some of the daily tasks that these women provided for the soldiers.
Enjoy this annual tradition as you travel back and immerse yourself in the 18th century. This family-friendly festival, features battlefield reenactments, colonial demonstrators, reenactors, artisans, authors, non-profits, music, food and libations.
NEW THIS YEAR IS A MINIATURE WAR GAMING EVENT: Join us in the Meeting Room of our main building for the Battle of Brandywine, Birmingham Hill. This wargame will use miniature figures scaled 20:1 to recreate the terrain and troop placements of the epic Battle of Brandywine. Guests may participate in the game or just enjoy observing others as they strategize their way to victory!
"Tavern Night in the Grove" Saturday, September 19th, 6pm - 10pm
At 6pm Start the evening with a Boom as the cannons roar to light off our new immersive event “Tavern Night in the Grove”! Libations supplied by Suburban Brewery, Harvest Ridge Winery, Revolution Bees Mead, Penn Distillery, Revolution Bees Mead, and food by Fletcher’s Kitchen and BBQ Clubhouse. Dress in your colonial best, pirate garb or just come with your curiosity and join fellow reenactors as we sing along to live music from Burnt Mills Highballers.
As the sun sets, gather under the trees for a spirited evening as British and Colonial soldiers set aside their differences for one night of camaraderie. Hear the sounds of the Revolutionary War era come alive with:
