Celebrate Chester’s rich colonial history at William Penn’s Landing Park on Friday, October 23, at 1:00 PM! Hosted by the Chester Historical Preservation Committee, this year’s free annual commemoration honors the life and legacy of Hannah Callowhill Penn on the 300th anniversary of her death. As the second wife of founder William Penn, Hannah effectively ran the Pennsylvania colony, managed its intricate political affairs, and single-handedly preserved its financial survival during its most fragile years. Event Highlights Guest Speaker: Doug Miller, Site Administrator and Museum Director of Pennsbury Manor, will share insights into Hannah Penn's pivotal role in governing the colony. Special Exhibits: Artifacts and historical books related to Chester's founding and the ship Welcome, which brought Penn to North America, will be on temporary display. Book Sale: Two local history books exploring Chester’s past will be available for purchase. Reception: Complimentary refreshments will be served following the presentation.
