Honoring the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965, join the League of Women Voters of Delaware County for a Rally for Voting Rights on Saturday, August 8th, from 11:00 a.m. to noon at the Delaware County Courthouse in Media. This event features a tribute to local suffrage leader Anna Howard Shaw, remarks from elected officials, and election resource distribution. Led by Marian Anderson re-enactor and historian Jillian Patricia Pirtle, those in attendance will be inspired to lift their voices and spirits to promote equality through voting rights and help make democracy work.

The League of Women Voters of Delaware County invite you to join in the Rally for Voting Rights on the steps of the Delaware County Court House in Media on Saturday, August 8th from 11:00 a.m. to noon.
The event will include displaying of the Suffrage flag and a tribute to Anna Howard Shaw, preacher, teacher, physician, suffrage leader, and resident of Delaware County.
Elected officials and League leaders will reflect on the importance of the Voting Rights Act and the need for continued efforts to register eligible citizens, promote participation, and resist efforts to curtail voting rights. Business cards with QR code links to VOTE411 and other election resources will be provided to all attendees to distribute in their communities.
The LWV Unite and Rise effort will conclude with an opportunity for everyone to lend their voice to freedom songs. Led by Marian Anderson re-enactor and historian Jillian Patricia Pirtle, those in attendance will be inspired to lift their voices and spirits to promote equality through voting rights and help make democracy work.
League of Women Voters of Delaware County is a nonpartisan political organization encouraging informed and active participation in government. This event is part of the League of Women Voters National Day of Action to Unite & Rise honoring the anniversary of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The event is held in collaboration with:
